MCX A14 and MCX A15 microcontrollers, featuring an Arm® Cortex®-M33 core, operates at up to 96MHz with high levels of integration and analog. They address a wide range of applications with scalable device options. The low-power and intelligent peripherals include timers that generate three complementary PWM pairs with deadband insertion, 4Msps 12b ADC with hardware windowing and averaging features. The innovative power architecture is designed to support high utilization of I/Os and power efficiency with a simple supply circuit in a smaller footprint.

The devices are supported by the MCUXpresso Developer Experience to accelerate embedded system development.

Features

Core Platform

  • Arm® Cortex®-M33 up to 96 MHz

Memory

  • Up to 128 KB on chip Flash with ECC (support onebit correction and two bits detection)
  • Flash minimum programming size is 16 bytes
  • Support Flash Swap with 8 KB granularity
  • Cache Engine with 4 KB RAM
  • Up to 32 KB RAM, configurable as up to 8 KB with ECC (support single bit correction two bits detection)
  • All RAM can be retained down to deep power down mode

Peripherals

  • Analog
    • One single-ended 12-bit ADC with sample rate of 4.0 Msamples/sec in 12-bit mode, support 16-bit mode with reduced bandwidth. Up to 24 ADC input channels with multiple internal and external trigger inputs. Integrated temperature sensor
    • Two high-speed comparators with 8 input pins and a 8-bit DAC as internal reference, one comparator is functional down to deep power down mode, can be used as a wake-up source from low-power modes
  • Timers
    • Three 32-bit standard general-purpose asynchronous timers/counters, each timer supports up to four capture inputs and four compare outputs; specific timer events can be selected to generate DMA requests
    • LPTimer
    • Frequency measurement timer
    • Windowed Watchdog Timer
    • Wake timer
    • MicroTick timer that runs from the 1MHz clock. This can wake up the device from reduced power modes up to deep sleep with Flash off, with extremely low power consumption
    • 42-bit free running OS timer as a continuous time base for the system, available in any reduced power modes
  • Communication Interfaces
    • USB 2.0 full speed device controller with on-chip PHY supporting crystal-less operation in device mode
    • Two LPSPI modules, supporting up to 50MHz operation frequency in master mode
    • 1x LPI2C supporting Standard, Fast, Fast+ and Ultra Fast modes
    • 3x LPUART, provides asynchronous, serial communication capabilities
    • One I3C bus interface
  • Motor Control Subsystem
    • 1x FlexPWM with 3 submodules, providing 9 PWM outputs (no Nanoedge module)
    • 1x Quadrature Decoder (QDC), provides interfacing capability to position/speed sensors used in industrial motor control applications
    • 1x AOI
